Supported Platforms & Requirements

The HoloMIT SDK is designed for cross-platform XR development, supporting a wide range of hardware setups and deployment targets. This section outlines the minimum and recommended system requirements, as well as the supported platforms for development, testing, and deployment.

Supported Platforms

Unity Versions

  • Unity 2022.3 LTS or 6.0 LTS
  • Unity URP pipeline required
  • Built-in support for XR Interaction Toolkit

XR Devices

  • Meta Quest 2 / 3 / Pro (via Meta XR SDK + AirLink or Link cable)
  • PCVR (SteamVR-compatible) headsets (tested with HTC Vive, Valve Index)

Development Environments

  • Windows 10 / 11 (Native compatibility)
  • Linux (Volumetric Video limited compatibility - reception only)
  • Android (Volumetric Video experimental compatibility - reception only)

Networking & Cloud

Network Requirements

  • Minimum 15 Mbps upstream for volumetric capture sessions
  • Recommended 50 Mbps+ for multi-user cloud sessions with audio/video
  • Latency-sensitive environments benefit from local/LAN deployments

Cloud Compatibility

  • Compatible with any Linux cloud instance (AWS, Azure, GCP, custom)
  • Docker support available (optional)
  • Only delivered for self-hosting under special conditions. Contact to sales.

Hardware Requirements

ComponentMinimumRecommended
CPUIntel i5 / AMD Ryzen 5Intel i9 / AMD Ryzen 9
RAM16 GB32 GB or higher
GPUNVIDIA RTX 3060+NVIDIA RTX 4070+ (for reconstruction)
StorageSSD (500MB/s+)NVMe SSD for low-latency writes
Camera SupportAzure Kinect, Femto BoltMulti-camera support (sync cables & hub)

Playback Devices

  • Quest 2/3/Pro (requires link or build export)
  • Windows PC with mid-tier GPU (GTX 3060 or better)
  • Mobile devices (experimental support for 2D streaming apps)

3rd Party Integrations

  • CUDA (for GPU-accelerated modules like reconstruction)
  • OpenCV (used in some post-processing steps)
  • Grafana/Prometheus (for metrics and system monitoring)

Known Limitations

  • Not currently compatible with Unity HDRP
  • Volumetric capture only supported on Windows
  • WebGPU not supported due to codec and threading constraints.

Suggested Test Setup (Local)

If you're testing locally, we recommend the following config:

  • Unity 2022.3 LTS
  • Meta Quest 3 connected via Link
  • Azure Kinect or Femto Bolt
  • Router with wired Gigabit LAN
